First, I’d like to thank Roll D6 Games for contacting me and asking me to review this new game! This is the first review game I’ve received, and I was super excited to try out a new game before it was released to the general public.
Let’s go hunt some trolls. In this game you are trying to turn trolls to stone by shining your lantern into their eyes. Seems easy enough, right? Wrong. There may be some mountains in your way, or the troll has his back to yours. How fix that issue? Mirrors, lots of mirrors. You place your mirrors around the board to reflect the beam of light from your lantern to bounce into the ugly troll’s eyes. As new trolls emerge from their dens, you must reposition your mirrors to rid the land of the giant vermin.
The game is a brain-burner. It starts off slow as you take turns placing your first mirrors. Once most of the mirrors are placed, the game picks up pace. On my opponent’s turn, I am drawing imaginary lines on the board trying to see where to place or move mirrors.
This game is definitely going on the STRATEGY shelf of my game room. When playing it was compared to chess, and that it is, you need to think of several moves ahead. Haphazardly placing mirrors will get you nowhere fast.
Please go check out their Kickstarter! There are only a few days left as of this posting, and if you like strategy and killing trolls, this is a game for you!
